My philosophy towards work and business is simple: it’s part of your life. I realised a very long time ago that making a distiction between work and leisure is not the way to go for me. I believe you should aim to enjoy what you do, at all times. It shouldn’t matter if you’re working or spending time with your family. This requires a high level of awareness of your personal priorities to make sure you spend your time wisely. You also need to keep yourself at top condition at all times. There can be no days off!
Again, you’ll see from above my affection to professional sports. No days off is another mantra from Bill Belichick. But again, there is wisdom in it. Life is tough, business is tough, parenting is tough. You can choose to be a passenger in your life, or you can choose to be the driver. I have chosen the latter and it has served me well.
Resume
Executive Advisor – Independent (2025–)
Partner – Deloitte (2022–2025)
In 2022–2024 I was the leader of Deloitte’s banking consulting services and in 2024 founded and led a new financial services strategic advisory practice until my departure. In addition, I was the lead partner for a large Nordic bank, building the relationship from a non-client status to a multi-million annual business. All in all, I contributed to more than 5 million euros of new sales during my three years at Deloitte.
Senior Business Advisor – BearingPoint (2021–2022)
I was the leader of BearingPoint’s Nordic financial services transformation practice. I founded and led the firm’s business in Denmark from ground up. I was also the lead partner for a large Nordic bank, building the relationship from a non-client status to over one million annual business in less than a year.
Head of Third Party Risk & Supplier Management – Nordea (2019–2021)
I led a full turnaround effort of a struggling third party risk area. This included a complete transformation of the process, technology, and people. The outcome was a major success: the bank’s risk in the area returned back within risk appetite, the process lead time was reduced from 180 to 60 days, and the team spirit improved significantly. Ultimately the team and process merged with into the broader procurement process and I took over a newly established supplier management unit overseeing the bank’s strategic external partnerships.
Head of Group Simplification & Programme Office – Nordea (2014–2019)
I was part of a leadership team overseeing a one billion euro investment portfolio, setting strategic priorities, ensuring business value delivery, and effective execution. I also led a programme and change management unit that established Group-wide transformation frameworks for all the bank’s change initiatives. I was also responsible for all associated interactions with the relevant financial supervisory authorities.
Head of Management Secretariat & Public Affairs – Nordea (2012–2014)
I led a strategy unit supporting Nordea’s retail banking division, a 1.5 billion euro annual revenue business. I also established Nordea’s first permanent public affairs unit to drive the bank’s regulatory agenda towards the regulators. I collaborated with the banking association and other large banks to ensure an industry-wide approach to the EU banking reform.
Several positions - Nordea (2005–2012)
I am an independent executive advisor focused on strategy, transformation, and COO-related topics in Nordic banking.
I’m currently engaged on an active mandate with a leading Nordic bank, supporting a large-scale transformation initiative.
My work includes advising senior leaders on strategy, operating model design, and business change, alongside selective advisory discussions with financial institutions and professional services firms.
During this time I held the following positions: team lead, deputy head of department, legal counsel, trainee, and customer service agent. I was selected to two different talent programmes: Nordea Trainee and Young Significant Talent Programmes.
Always strive for better
I’m a strong believer in life-long learning and self-improvement. I do this by following the news on daily basis (e.g. Financial Times and The Economist), reading regularly on business (e.g. Made in America, Shoe dog), self-improvement (e.g. How to win friends and influence people, and Thinking, fast and slow) and, of course, the classics (e.g. War and peace and Crime and punishment). Podcasts offer a nice way to add to your daily learning e.g. while on a walk or driving (e.g. Masters in business and Rest is history).
Don’t forget recovery
When I say no days off, I don’t mean there can be no down time. No successful athlete or business leader can run at full speed at all times. Quite the opposite, the best ones understand the importance of recovery and do that intentionally. The key is to find the optimal balance and be purposeful. To me daily yoga and meditation, spending time with family and friends, travelling to NFL games and, above all, winding down at my summer house (pictured) is critical for being at my best at the office.
